Magda?! Is that you?

Magda?!?

Y'know...Mage stands out for a variety of reasons, but after flipping through a copy of Wizard magazine the other day it occured to me that the women of Mage are quite unique. Sure, they have intellect, skill, wit and ability. But as near as I can tell, from Fathom to Dawn to Lady Death and Witchblade, the number one requirement to be a comic book heroine is to have a rack three times larger than humanly possible and wear very little clothing. Take a look below at a few of the "average" hot market comic females out there and you'll see what I mean. Don't get me wrong...I love eye-candy! It's nice and certainly boosts the fan-boy libido sales, and I'm sure these titles all have great story lines too. But...it seems a little too calculated for the bottom line to me when all the latest heroines are so, er, over the top. And don't get me started on how Witchblade's breast armor occassionally look like a couple of hands grabbing her, um, and what's with the She-Ra Princess of Power Sword thing? Boy, a Freudian Feminist (yes, there is such a creature...with some reservations about Anatomy as Destiny) could have a field day with comic-chicks. Acquisition of the phallic male power indeed! :)

Anywayz, pardon my rambling, you can decide if this theme is serious or just a blatant attempt to, er, titilate. Click on the alternate-Magda above for a full-view of what she might look like if Mage followed this particular trend. Thankfully, it doesn't.
