In issue #5, Kevin and company head north to Canada, however somewhere along the way, Kirby Hero takes his leave of Kevin and Joe to pursue his personal quest alone.Using his utmost concentration, Kevin manages to disguise the bat and take it through customs. After a quick visit to the ATM, the heroes discover the city is so infested with Nasties that even Kevin can feel their presence. Still -- the two aren't quite sure where to turn next...

The duo follow the scent of Nasties into the Metro -- the Underground subway stations that sprawl like a city beneath the city proper. Kevin swiftly rushes to engage the first Nasty they encounter and is held back by Joe who recognizes the beast as a Basilisk. If Kevin had made eye-contact with it, he would have been turned to stone.

Leaving the subway, Kevin and Joe bide their time until evening when they encounter some Gargoyles leaving their cathedral awnings. Joe pulls a new trick out of his sleeve, producing a bottled mixture of "Nasty Stuff" used in conjunction with a harmonica -- the combination proves effective and deadly. To lend a hand, the erstwhile Kirby Hero returns to pound an escaping Gargoyle to rubble.

As the heroes fight, the Pale Incanter not only tracks their progress, but apparantly his ring somehow gathers the excess energies shed by both the Pendragon and the bat.

The Incanter continues to collect the energy, preparing to infuse the kinetic elixer into his sculpted creation and give it life then set it loose to rampage.

As Kirby, Joe and Kevin catch up their experiences since parting paths, the three are greeted by Kim Song, the Monkey King. Kim Song verifies the rising number of Nasties in the city, but also informs the trio that a number of heroes are coming to the city as well -- converging for some sort of warrior's Gathering. A Gathering with no purpose, no goal, and no leader. Kim Song mentions one hero in particular is expected soon: the Dragonslayer, "the man who feels no pain."
After the Monkey King takes leave of the trio, Kirby has a surprise of his own to show Kevin and Joe. He takes them to the base of the city's mountain park -- a mountain all three recognize from their visit to the Faerie Realms.
